- bacon - we cut our bacon into 2-inch strips. You can use whatever thickness of bacon you like, as well as making it as crispy or as tender as you prefer. You can also swap it out with chicken, turkey, or veggie bacon if pork isn’t your thing.
- garlic - freshly chopped garlic always adds the most flavor, but you can also use pre-minced garlic if you’ve got some on hand.
- balsamic vinegar - balsamic vinegar lends a very distinct taste and brings balance to the bacon and Brussels sprouts. But if you don’t have any on hand, you can substitute it for lemon juice or a similar vinegar or acid like red wine vinegar or apple cider vinegar.

You will also need measuring spoons and a 10-inch skillet.
How to Make the Best Green Beans with Bacon
- Blanch green beans. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add green beans and cook until tender, about 3-4 minutes. Drain under cold running water for a minute and set aside.
- Cook bacon. Add bacon to a large skillet and cook over medium-high heat until browned on both sides and crisp, about 3-4 minutes. Leave the bacon fat in the skillet and transfer the bacon onto a plate.
- Sauté aromatics. In the same pan, add onion and garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute.
- Add in green beans. Stir in the blanched green beans and cook until warmed through, about 1-2 minutes. Stir well to coat.
