Why You'll Love these Oreo Truffles

    • Only three ingredients. Oreo truffles are simplicity at its finest. There are only three ingredients in this recipe: oreos, cream cheese, and white chocolate. A recipe so simple, you can memorize it.
    • Quick and easy. It only takes 30 minutes of your actual time to make the truffle batter, shape into balls, and coat in chocolate. Then, set aside about 1 hour for chilling before you can bite into these delectable cookies-and-cream treats. The secret to speeding things up? Tossing oreo cookies and cream cheese into a food processor and letting it do all the work! There’s also a quick and easy manual method (see instructions below).
    • They’re easy to serve. These oreo cookie balls are super portable, require no cutting or slicing to make individual servings, and are visually appetizing without complicated decorations. Make them for holiday gatherings, work parties, birthdays, or any occasion that calls for sweet treats!
    • Customize them for any holiday. You can customize these white chocolate oreo truffles for any holiday you are celebrating by switching up the color of the white chocolate by adding in some food coloring and/or adding different colored sprinkles on top to fit your theme.

    Ingredient Notes

To make this easy Oreo Truffles, you will need the following ingredients (full measurements in recipe card below):

    • oreos - you aren’t limited to standard oreos in this recipe. Use your favorite kind, like golden oreos, double chocolate, birthday cake, mint oreos, and so on. The choice is yours.
    • cream cheese - for the proper texture, I recommend using full-fat cream cheese in this recipe. If you want to make oreo cookies without cream cheese, there are several possible substitutes. The closest substitute is 1 cup mascarpone cheese (slightly richer and creamier than cream cheese). You can also substitute with ¾ cup sweetened condensed milk or ¾ cup buttercream frosting. Note that these two alternatives will result in much sweeter truffles.
    • white chocolate - you can use white candy melts instead, or try milk chocolate or dark chocolate if you’re not a fan of white chocolate.

    Equipment

You will also need then following kitchen tools and equipment:

    • food processor (or ziploc bag and rolling pin)
    • cookie scoop
    • half sheet baking pan lined with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat
    • small mixing bowl (for melting the chocolate in)

How to Make the Best Oreo Truffles

    1. Crush oreos. Add oreos to a food processor or blender and mix on low until crumbled. You can also transfer cookies to a large ziploc bag, seal the bag, and roll a rolling pin on top to crush into crumbs. Remove 2 tablespoons and set aside (for topping the truffles later).
    2. Add cream cheese. Add cream cheese and and mix on low until combined.

    1. Shape cookie balls. Use a small cookie scoop to take a tablespoon of the mixture and use your hands to roll into balls. Place the cookie balls on a large half sheet baking pan lined with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
    2. Chill. Transfer the baking sheet to the refrigerator and chill for at least 30 minutes.

    1. Melt chocolate. Melt the white chocolate in a small bowl.

    How to Melt Chocolate

You can melt the chocolate either on the stove or in the microwave.

    • On the stove: Bring 2 inches of water to a low simmer in a saucepan over medium-low heat. Then, turn the heat to low and place a medium heatproof bowl on the mouth of the pot. Make sure that there is a gap of a few inches in between the bottom of the bowl and the water (You can also place a bowl on a steamer attachment on top of your pot). Add the chocolate and stir constantly as it melts. Stir until the chocolate is completely smooth and melted. This should take a few minutes.
    • In the microwave: The second way to melt chocolate (and an easier way) is in the microwave. Place the medium heatproof bowl of chocolate into the microwave and microwave in 30 second intervals. Remove the bowl at each interval and stir well. Repeat until the chocolate has completely melted. Stir until completely smooth.
    1. Dip truffles in chocolate. Dip each chilled ball into the melted white chocolate to fully coat and scoop it out with a fork allowing any excess chocolate to drip back in the bowl. Place back on the lined baking sheet. Immediately sprinkle the reserved crushed oreos on top.

    1. Chill. Place the coated truffles back into the fridge to allow the chocolate to set, about 30 minutes to 1 hour.

    Recipe Tips and Tricks

    • Decorate your way. This recipe for oreo cookie balls makes things easy by using crumbled oreo on top of the balls, but you can really finish them any way you see fit: by adding sprinkles, an extra drizzle of white or dark chocolate, an embedded oreo half, or by leaving them plain.
    • Get the family involved. This is the type of treat that’s easy enough for the kids to join in. Make an assembly line to make things go faster: have one person roll the balls, the other person dips, and the last person arranges them on the final tray and sprinkles them with oreo crumbs.
    • Turn them into truffle pops. Make these oreo truffles even easier to dip in chocolate (and easier to eat!) by adding lollipop sticks. You should be able to get them in the baking aisle at your local grocery store or find them easily on Amazon.

    Storing and Freezing Instructions

    How to Store

Once the chocolate shells have completely cooled and hardened, place the finished oreo truffles in an airtight container and refrigerate for up to 2 weeks.

    How to Freeze

Place leftover oreo balls in a freezer-safe airtight container or freezer bag and freeze for up to 3 months. To serve, allow them to thaw overnight in the refrigerator or for about an hour or two at room temperature in a dry, cool place.
