Description

Over 20 popular best apple desserts including apple pies, apple crisps and cobblers, cakes, muffins, cheesecake, and more treats loaded with cinnamon sugar. One of our favorite apple desserts are these Baked Apples.

Ingredients

  • 4 large and firm applesrinsed and patted dry
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
  • 1/4 cup brown sugarpacked
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup old-fashioned whole rolled oats
  • ¼ cup chopped pecans
  • 3 tablespoons raisins or cranberries (optional)
  • 3/4 cup warm apple cider (or water)

For serving (optional):

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to a 375°F.
  2. Use a sharp paring knife or an apple corer to cut out the apple cores, about 3/4 down into the apple (leaving ½ inch from the bottom intact). Then, use a small metal spoon to dig out the core and remove any seeds. Use a small knife to score them a little across the entire surface with a knife (this will help the apples from splitting in the oven when baked).
  3. Transfer the cored apples to an 8-inch square baking pan, standing upright.
  4. In a medium mixing bowl, combine butter, sugar, and cinnamon together using a hand mixer. Add oats, pecans, and raisins (if using) and stir together until incorporated.
  5. Use a spoon to stuff each apple with the oat mixture, filling it all the way to the top. Pour warm apple cider (or water) into the bottom of the baking pan (to prevent the apples from burning).
  6. Bake for 35-45 minutes or until the apples are cooked through and slightly soft, but not mushy.
  7. Serve as is or with a scoop of Vanilla Ice Cream and Salted Caramel Sauce drizzled on top.

Notes

You can make or prepare some of these apple desserts ahead of time. Many can be stored at room temperature for 1-2 days, up to one week in the refrigerator, or up to 3 months in the freezer. Confirm storing instructions by checking the specific recipe post for the dessert that you are making.

To reheat any of these recipes and serve them warm, reheat in a 300F preheated oven or air fryer for 5-15 minutes until fully warmed through, depending on the recipe. If heating from frozen, let it thaw first and then reheat.
