Description

Warm weather is on its way and lemons are in season, making it the perfect time to make some Homemade Lemonade! This fresh, perfectly sweetened summer drink is as simple as it gets with only 3 ingredients. With the perfect balance of tart and sweet, you’ll want to sip on it all summer long.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup lemon juice, freshly squeezed
  • 2-4 cups cold water (to dilute)
  • lemon slices (optional, for serving)
  • ice (optional, for serving)

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, bring 1 cup of water to a boil over medium-high heat. Add sugar and stir until dissolved. Stir in lemon juice and remove from heat.
  2. Transfer the mixture into a large pitcher and add 2 to 4 cups of cold water to your desired taste.
  3. Refrigerate until the lemonade cools completely, about 30 minutes.
  4. Serve with lemon slices and ice, if desired.

Notes

How to store: Store homemade lemonade in an airtight container and refrigerate for up to 1 week. Serve cold with or without added ice.

How to freeze: Store leftover lemonade in a large freezer bag or freezer-safe airtight container, leaving enough space for it to expand in the freezer. Freeze for up to 3 months. Allow it to slowly thaw in the refrigerator overnight before serving, or thaw in the container in a warm water bath. If planning to make a batch to freeze, I recommend freezing just the lemonade concentrate before diluting it with water (to take up less space!). Dilute it with water once thawed.
