Banana and dates in a smoothie? They may not seem like the typical combination, but it works. It works real well. I first tried this majoon banana and date smoothie at a local health store and fell in love. I am Persian and us Persian love our dates and nuts. It is embedded in our DNA. So when I found out that this smoothie is actually a Persian drink, I wasn’t all that surprised. I already knew from the first sip that that was the perfect combination for me. Shocked that I have never tried this before, yes, but not surprised at its history.
This all-natural energy drink makes the perfect breakfast or a post-workout drink. Smoothie breakfasts are my thing, working out… not so much. I never seem to have the time to make a big breakfast during the week as I am rushing to work. So I tend to have one too many cereal breakfasts. I could also make eggs but I’ve had to cut down on my egg intake and limit my egg breakfasts to 2 times a week. Where does that leave me? With smoothies. I have probably tried every type of smoothie there is out there with every possible fruit combination.
The banana and dates make this the perfect breakfast smoothie. These ingredients keep you full. So no embarrassing stomach growls at the morning meeting at work. It provides the energy and nutrients that you need to start your day.
Tip: To be even more efficient and save time in the morning, prepare this the night before (leaving out the ice). Then all you need to do is give it a quick re-blend in the morning, with ice.
